JICS Stories

SPOTLIGHT

What do you love about JICS?

I love the community at JICS.  We don’t just drop our children off and then pick them up at the end of the day.  The school wants the entire family to be members of the school community.  There are countless opportunities each day to be involved: lunch duty, room mom, PTF, Moms in Prayer, chapel, coaching and attending sports practices and games, spirit nights, etc.  Most of the students know each other on campus, but most of the parents know each other as well and our families choose to spend time together outside of school hours.  We all have a love of Christ and love for our families and it’s so special to have an entire community with the same value system in which to raise our children.

Why did you choose JICS for your child(ren)?

We chose JICS for our children mainly because it afforded them the freedom to practice their faith and it afforded us the freedom to be involved and to have a say in their education.  Those two things are being taken away in our public and private schools and we appreciated that JICS respected those liberties.

What is one word your family would use to describe your JICS experience?

Life-changing.  JICS has brought our family closer together and closer to Christ.  Because of this school, we are able to give our children the same message at home, at church, and at school: that they are loved and saved by Jesus Christ.  That message is the best foundation to build their educations on as it gives them confidence to learn and grow and to feel safe and secure in their school environment.

What would you tell other parents to encourage them to consider JICS for their children?

I moved a lot as a child and attended six different schools from kindergarten to 12th grade—public, private, missional Christian, and boarding school.  As good as some of those schools were, JICS outranks all of them for its values, curriculum, and dedication to its students.  JICS strives to develop the whole person, something that makes our school so unique.  All children could benefit from an education that helps them develop spiritually, emotionally, and academically.  JICS looks at each child as a gift from God and values them for their individual strengths while developing plans and strategies to help with their weaknesses.  I am so grateful to JICS for helping to shape my children into strong and brave warriors for Christ, respectful and responsible citizens, and well-rounded students prepared for the next phases of their lives.
