Fine Arts

The Fine Arts Department at James Island Christian School seeks to glorify God by nurturing creativity, skill, and a love for the arts in every student. We inspire students to use their God-given talents with excellence and purpose, reflecting His beauty and truth through artistic expression.

Fine and Performing Arts

At James Island Christian School, we believe the arts are a gift from God—given to inspire, communicate truth, and reflect His creativity. Our Fine Arts program is grounded in the understanding that every student has the capacity to create, regardless of previous experience or skill level. We value the process of artistic growth as much as the final product, encouraging students to take risks, explore new ideas, and develop confidence in their abilities.
We strive to create an environment where students are free to express themselves while learning discipline, collaboration, and excellence. Participation in the arts not only strengthens creative skills, but also fosters problem-solving, perseverance, and a deeper appreciation for beauty and craftsmanship.
Through music, visual arts, drama, and other creative opportunities, we aim to equip students to use their gifts to serve others, glorify God, and influence the world for Christ.

Fine Arts Offerings

Art

Our art classes immerse students in a variety of mediums, artistic styles, and age-appropriate projects. As they progress through the program, students build a strong foundation in the basic principles of drawing while exploring a range of creative materials. They also study art history, gaining an appreciation for influential artists, movements, and cultural contributions to the world of art. Beyond the classroom, students have opportunities to showcase their talents by participating in SCISA art shows and submitting a Greeting Card entry for the James Island County Park Festival of Lights.
