Designed to raise funds needed to construct a new building, expanding our programmatic offerings and physical space to equip future generations better to lead and positively impact their homes, churches, and communities from K4 through High School graduation.

James Island Christian School, located in Charleston, has been serving the Lowcountry community for over 30 years. As a growing private Christian school, we are committed to providing a Christ-centered education that complements the teachings of both home and church. We believe that today's youth are tomorrow's leaders and dedicate developing students' Christian worldview, critical thinking skills, and leadership abilities to impact their homes, churches, and communities upon graduation.

Rooted in faith, the Building Up Campaign aims to create the essential space needed to accommodate our expanding high school program while also enhancing our offerings for students from K4 through high school.

Why did JICS decide to re-open the High School?
In 2022 the JICS School Board in agreement with James Island Christian Church decided that with school growth and a heart for Christian education, prayer and deliberation, to re-open the high school to offer a Christ-centered, Biblically-based, academically excellent and service-driven offering all the way through High School graduation.
Why are we expanding?
The greatest challenge to our children's Christian worldview today is a lack of understanding of how to stand strong against the pressures and values of the world. While this understanding starts at home, it is nurtured and deepened through every aspect of learning at James Island Christian School.

Expanding our physical space and program is the only way for us support this vision to foster leadership and spiritual development in future generations.

Why are we building a new building?
To house the new high school and increase our lower school offerings, we need a new building. Every square inch of our campus is used currently by both the school and church, which is great, but also creates limitations. We need the additional space to accommodate enrollment growth and our commitment to equipping future leaders for Christ. 
What is the scope of the new building?
The new building is a 14,000 square foot, two-story structure built on the front side of the existing gym. It contains: 
  • Dedicated Welcome/Reception Area
  • 11 Modern Classrooms
  • State-of-the-art Science Lab
  • Weight Room
  • Student Leadership/Collaboration Hub
  • Covered walkways between all buildings
  • ADA-compliant
  • Elevator accessible
  • Renovated “Loft” for JICC Youth 

Will all JICS students benefit from the new building?
Yes! The Building Up Campaign will enhance the campus to allow for more activities and better accommodate the entire student body. In addition to providing dedicated space for upper school courses (grades 6-12), all students will have access to the new facilities. Due to additional space in the lower school programs (K4-5th grade), we will now be able to offer additional programs such as Spanish instruction beginning in kindergarten, music, art, and robotics offerings.
Are tuition dollars being used to support the new building?
The Building Up Campaign has a goal of $6 million to achieve a building that meets the needs of both the church, school, and the full upper school program. We have designed a 2+2+2 plan to reach our goal.

  • $2 million will be coming from James Island Christian Church
  • $2 million from the Building Up Campaign
  • $2 million to be borrowed as a short-term note covered James Island Christian School

Corporate Matching Gifts

You can double or even triple the value of your contribution by taking advantage of your employer's Matching Gifts Program. Simply consult your HR office to obtain a matching gift form and inquire about the details of your employer’s matching gifts program. Send the completed form to the Development Office and you will receive recognition for the combined amount of your gift and your employer’s matching gift.

Memorial Gifts

You may make a gift in honor of a loved one, a graduating senior, a grandchild or a favorite teacher or coach. You also may want to remember a loved one with a memorial gift. Let us know the name of the person you wish to honor or remember when you make your gift. We will send you a receipt for the gift, and we will notify the honoree or the family of the loved one of your kindness.
