This year James Island Christian School is focusing on developing a grateful heart. One of the best ways to shape a heart that is grateful is to serve others. During JICS "Team Time Chapel", a portion of the day set aside for the whole K4 - 8th grade to come together as one body, students collaborated in their service.
Project Linus is a non-profit organization that works to serve children in need. Their mission statement states that they work to, "Provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer 'blanketeers.'" Every student participated as a blanketeer, working together to produce 6 no-sew blankets for children outside of the school walls. Amidst great teamwork, laughs, and smiles, students cut, tied, and prayed over their blankets. We are grateful as a school to have had the opportunity to come together and aid in providing children security through blankets.
Special thanks to Miss Lawson for her work in organizing our team time chapel project!
