JICS Sisters Earn top 2 honors in 2016 DNLCC Art Contest!

Two JICS siblings entered their artwork into the 2016 Dee Norton Lowcountry Children's Center Butterfly Coloring Contest and walked away with the top 2 honors!  JICS' Li-li Thornley and Maura Thornley entered their Butterfly art into the contest and, incredibly, the sister duo took 1st and 2nd place out of 88 entries from the Charleston area!  

The winners were as follows:

 

Grand Prize:  Li-Li Thornley (Wadmalaw Island, SC)

 

1st Runner Up:  Maura Genet H. Thornley (Wadmalaw Island, SC)

 

2nd Runner Up:  Mackenzie Emmerton (Summerville, SC)

3rd Runner Up:  Annika Baran (Charleston, SC)


Every child’s submission will be shown in a slide show that will be shown at the DNLCC 2016 Movie Night at The Joe!  Movie Night is a FREE family event that will be held on Friday, April 15, 2016 from 6-10 PM.  It will feature carnival style games and craft activities for kids, information for parents, a live performance, and the feature film “Finding Nemo” on the JumboTron at sundown!  The slideshow featuring all artwork submitted will be shown throughout the afternoon, up until the movie begins.

Congratulations to the Grand Prize winner, Li-Li, whose artwork will be featured on the DNLCC billboard along the 1-26 corridor during the month of April!
