JICS 2018 Track and Field Champions

The JICS Track Team completed another great season with an amazing performance at the Next Generation Middle School State Championship meet in Anderson, SC.

The girls team took 4th place overall and the boys team took 5th place. Both teams combined tallied a 4th place finish against some of the best competition in the state.

Individually the Lions were led by two SC Middle School State Champions and two SC Middle School runner-ups.

7th grader, Maura Thornley took the Middle School State championship in Discus, while 7th grader Meagan White added her own State Championship title in the High Jump. 8th grader Seth Glover broke the JICS school record with his second place finish in the 400, and 5th grader, Bella Thornley rocked the event with her second place finish in the 2 Mile.

All in all, the team smashed 13 school records and took home many medals and ribbons at various meets throughout the season.

Earning qualifying marks for the South Carolina Independent School Association Varsity Track State Championships, Seth Glover, Maura Thornley and Meagan White will be representing JICS against high school juniors and seniors!  5th graders are not allowed to compete in the SCISA Varsity Track Championships, or else Bella Thornley's awesome 2 mile qualifying time would of placed her there as well!

Congrats to all our Lions track athletes on your hard work and achievements. Best of luck to all our 8th graders-Once a Lion always a Lion!

Congratulations to JICS 8th grader, Seth Glover, who finished 2nd in the 800M at the South Carolina Independent School Association State Track and Field Championships.  Seth ran past High School Juniors and Seniors along the way to his incredible finish!

Congratulations on awesome finishes for our 7th grade girls, Meagan White and Maura Thornley.  They also held their own with the Varsity contestants!  Meagan finished with a high jump of 4'6" and finished in 7th place!  Maura finished 4th in Discus and 6th in Shotput!   Seth, Meagan and Maura all represented JICS with class!  We are very proud of them!
